WHAT TO BRING

We sail rain or shine, wind or no wind – please come prepared!

Life Jackets

Every student must wear a United States Coast Guard (USCG) Type III approved life jacket with an attached whistle at all times when on a boat or on the dock. There are a multitude of styles – you don’t need a $100+ racing life jacket. It must fit comfortably and not be too tight or too large. Please write your child’s name on it.

Clothing

Closed-toe shoes must be worn. Boat shoes or other rubber-soled, high-traction shoes that will not be damaged by water (they will get wet) are recommended. Flip-flops and open-toed sandals are not acceptable. Sailors will not be boated without proper footwear.

We strongly recommend that sailors wear bathing suits, tech t-shirts (ideally long-sleeved), closed-toe shoes, hats/visors, and sunglasses. Cotton t-shirts are not comfortable when wet, which they will become! It can be cold and/or rain so sailors should bring a warmer top garment that is water resistant/waterproof. A towel at the Clubhouse is always nice to return to.

Sun safety – please apply waterproof 30+ SPF sunblock before arriving. Parents are urged to send their children with a hat/visor, sunglasses, long-sleeve tech t-shirt, and sunblock. Hats and sunglasses are incredibly important for sun safety and sailing performance – please don’t overlook them.
