The Buzzards Yacht Club

The Buzzards Yacht Club was established as an Association in 1930 and incorporated in 1965. Its family members have enjoyed a rich history and tradition of sailing, racing and social events with like-minded people who love all that the Buzzards Bay area has to offer. The Buzzards has a small clubhouse on Wings Neck and holds One Design Senior Series and Cup Races for Herreshoff 12s, Bullseyes and Stuart Knockabouts and Junior Series Races for 420s, Widgeons, and Optimists. The Buzzards also hosts four weekend PHRF Races during the summer and helps run the weekday Old Sigh PHRF Race Series.

Members also enjoy other sailing events for boats of all shapes and sizes such as the Chowder Race, the Commodore's Cup, Big Boat Cruise, Ladies and Gentleman's Race, and the Fun Race/Picnic. The summer kicks off and closes with a clubhouse gathering on the 4th of July and Labor Day and members also gather for the mid-season Lobster/Chicken Bake.

The Buzzards is affiliated with the Buzzards Sailing School, an 8-week summer program that teaches sailing, seamanship and racing using Widgeons, Optimists and 420s.

You don't have to own a boat or have to race. The Buzzards is an informal, very affordable yacht club for people who share the love of the water and the joy of sailing. Information can be found at
